Happy Friday! It’s time again for another DIY Friday! post. This week: take some time to pamper yourself with an easy good-for-your-skin beauty treatment, and enjoy the lazy days of summer!
I love this honey-oatmeal mask. It’s all natural – no funky, potentially hazardous chemicals are being applied to your skin, just wholesome, good-for-you ingredients. It also feels so good on the face too – it’s so cooling and soothing to the skin (especially if your skin has become dry from wind or sun exposure), and though it can be a little bit messy (wear an old comfy tee when applying), it leaves your skin feeling very smooth, soft, and hydrated.
Honey contains antioxidants, absorbs impurities from the pores, and is a wonderful moisturizer. Oatmeal aids in relieving dryness, helps to maintain moisture balance, and is a gentle skin exfoliator. Yogurt, with its beneficial enzymes and lactic acid, helps to hydrate, smooth, and sooth the skin.
So gather up your supplies, light some incense, put your feet up, and prepare to get beautiful – naturally.
Ingredients:
- 3 tablespoons dry rolled oats
- 1/4 cup plain, organic yogurt
- 1 tablespoon honey (I like to use raw honey since it hasn’t been processed. Unprocessed honey retains more of the “good stuff”, like beneficial enzymes.)
Place rolled oats into a blender or food processor, and grind briefly until oats become a course powder. Place powdered oats into a small, glass bowl.
Next, add honey and yogurt, and mix until well combined. Let mixture stand for about 10 minutes. This allows the oats to become thoroughly moistened by the honey and yogurt.
Smooth mixture onto a clean face, avoiding the eye area, and let sit for 5 to 10 minutes. Rinse mask off with plain, warm water (or use a wash cloth), and pat skin dry. Follow with your favorite natural moisturizer.
Enjoy!

thank you for that mask. usually i put olive oil as well, but tend to get a bit too greasy , so I may try without it.
can you just mixed the honey and oat together without the yogurt?
Well, that’s a good recipe for me to keep. I can never use the whole amount of a facial mask from the store! I think I have a half used bottle somewhere from Christmas 8 years ago. I would much rather make this one on my own when needed.

Thanks for stopping by. This recipe is so easy to make. It makes enough for one very healthy application, or you can share it with someone you love and have a little make over fun. When I use this my two daughters (6 and 9) love to slather it on too. It makes for some really fun family girl time. Peace.
