Somewhere Over the Rainbow

I was so blessed this evening with a big beautiful rainbow right in my back yard.  It was a double one at one point, and formed a complete and perfect arch in the sky – it was lovely.  I made an attempt to capture it in a photo for posterity’s sake (I really need to invest in a better camera) .  We all ventured outside to take a look at it and enjoy the onset of dusk.  It was a very nice end to the long, rather hot California day.

My son, who just turned 14 a few weeks ago, asked my youngest daughter (age 6) if she knew where rainbows came from.  She asked him where, and he then proceeded to inform her that rainbows occur when leprechauns bend over and pull down their pants – typical remark from my anything but typical teenage son.  I hope that in writing this post I haven’t offended any leprechauns – I mean leprechauns are people too – aren’t they?
