Campaign for Safe Cosmetics : Get Involved

Action Alert

Take Action!

Right now you can help get triclosan taken out of Bath and Body Works’ line of products.

Triclosan, a nasty antimicrobial agent, is used in many different liquid hand soaps (more than 75% of them) and other household products.  It’s a known hormone disruptor and environmental pollutant, and may play a role in the rise of “super bugs”.   You can make a difference by asking Bath and Body Works to eliminate triclosan from their products.  Are you with me?

Take the Pledge to be Triclosan-Free!

The easiest way to be triclosan-free is to read labels.  Learn what ingredients to look for and avoid them.  Opt for safe organic soaps like Dr. Bronner’s, and take the triclosan-free pledge.

Green Tip:  To avoid exposing myself and my family to triclosan containing hand soaps, I always carry a small container of Dr. Bronner’s liquid castile soap in my handbag.  It’s easy, and I know what I’m washing with is safe (and fair trade too).

Are you concerned about triclosan?  Share your with us on twitter @greenearthbazar and on our facebook page.  We want to hear from you! ;)

  1. I’m glad this campaign is spreading as wide as it is! I just blogged about it myself. It’s quite alarming how little regulation there is of the bath and body industry. As a leader in the field, it would be wise for Bath and Body Works to take the initiative to phase Triclosan out now- before the FDA confirms what our common sense already tells us- it’s not safe.

    • Hi Sarah,

I’m glad to this campaign gaining speed too – it’s such an important one. Too many people have no idea how terrible triclosan really is (and where it’s lurking too). Looking forward to reading your own post on this. Thanks for the visit, and for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful comment.

      Peace. ;)
